When Somic began to look at weaving their paper yarns, they were initially told it would be impossible, and had to adapt weaving looms and techniques to produce the decorative fabric now commonly known as Somweave.
One of Somic’s most popular products is a wire re-inforced Somweave which is used for the production of Lloyd Loom type furniture. Click here for more information about Lloyd Loom
Lloyd loom fabric is only a very small part of the vast range of Somweaves. Many other designs are available, and we are constantly updating our portfolio to offer our customers exactly what they want. We are also able to work alongside customers to produce bespoke, and exclusive fabrics if and when required. Most weaves can be woven any width up to 180cm, with the standard being 137cms. The weaves can be supplied untreated, or treated for handle and surface finish with an FR additive if required. Click here to see some examples of weave
The list of products with which Somweave can be applied is almost as numerous as the number of weaves which are in our range. Most weaves are very durable and versatile, making them ideal for most of the listed uses, and many other applications:
• Furniture panelling
• Lighting & lampshades
• Speaker/amplifier frets and other acoustic panels
• Shop window displays
• Wall Coverings
• Blinds (panel, vertical, roller & roman blinds)
• Screens
• Room dividers / partitions
• Fashion accessories (hats, bags, shoes, etc.)
Somweave has many advantages, which make it so versatile and ideal for the above listed, and other applications. Some of the main advantages include:
The fabric is eco friendly, made from sustainable products, it is also biodegradable and recyclable. Somweave has a natural texture adding to its appeal.
Paper has not got the same loose fibres as most other fabrics, meaning it is very durable, anti allergy (non hazardous & non toxic), anti static, is easy to clean, and has a long life.
Somweave is very versatile and flexible, easy to apply, and can be treated with different finishes to best suit the application it is needed for (including FR treatments). As it is essentially paper, the end product can also be easily painted / varnished.
A good range of colours available, and for larger quantities, customer’s colours can be matched. We are also able to offer bespoke and exclusive designs. |
